IEM's Information Technology products and services represent a broad, but interconnected range of scientific and technological capabilities that help our customers deal with the unique protection and security complexities of today's world. More than two decades ago, IEM began developing, testing, and supporting outcome-focused IT solutions for emergency management and defense customers—understanding the urgency faced by these customers to expedite the deployment of mission-critical systems in response to homeland security and homeland defense goals. These solutions required not only the very highest levels of accuracy, but delivery in a timely manner.

Today we apply this same risk-based, time-sensitive approach to customer projects for other areas of government and the private sector. As a result, we have expanded our sterling reputation for responsive, innovative, and cost-effective IT solutions well beyond the emergency management sector.

IEM IT solutions adhere to key interoperability standards that facilitate flawless data exchange and ensure communications between disparate software/hardware systems.  We possess a comprehensive range of IT capabilities, including:  research, requirements development, and analyses; application design and development; full J2EE and .NET capabilities; software testing, training, and development; and ongoing maintenance and support.

The principles, practices, and experience that IEM provides are based on the most recent guidance from the International Standards Organization (ISO), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the National Security Administration (NSA), and the Government Information Security Reform Act.

Program Management - IEM helps organizations better define the objectives comprising their mission by clarifying the roles of program components and identifying the strategies, structures, systems, and capabilities necessary for a successful outcome. Having a set of clear, measureable objectives makes it easier to target program activities toward meaningful and measurable results, thus maximizing the cost-effectiveness of resources.

Software Development - IEM clients repeatedly rely on us to understand their problems and deliver software solutions on time and within budget. We design and support scalable systems that are used cooperatively by local, state, and Federal agencies yet provide each stakeholder with the IT solution that fits their particular needs. Popular areas of engagement include: Enterprise Solutions, Web Services, Geospatial Technologies, Open Source, cloud computing and Project Management.

Cybersecurity - IEM has extensive experience conducting verification and validation of IT security to ensure that government agencies meet the required security standards. IEM has experience implementing key Federal cybersecurity standards such as Defense Information Technology Security Certification & Accreditation Process (DITSCAP) and National Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (NIACAP) into our software solutions. IEM also has experience developing specific security-related testing of software systems and has performed security evaluations for a number of government and private agencies.

IT Services and Support - IEM information technology (IT) solutions help make our communities safer, warfighters more effective, and agencies and businesses more productive and responsive to citizens and customers. IEM has successfully executed hundreds of projects for public and private sectors—from a multi-million dollar chemical-biological hazard prediction model used by Federal agencies to a cost-effective, yet robust state enterprise information portal.

Staff Augmentation - Through our staff augmentation services, IEM can increase your IT organizational capacity by supplying seasoned professionals in areas of project management and leadership, software engineering and development, systems and network engineering, and testing and accreditation services.  We also have special subject matter experts in areas that complement many technology projects – for example, open systems architecture, geospatial technologies, and modeling and simulation.

Systems Integration - IEM systems integration solutions help bridge gaps in organizational structure, business processes and operations, and data, while providing operational functionality across diverse technologies. Working with government clients has primed us to think beyond typical jurisdictional lines to a consideration of issues such as technical compatibility and interoperability, operational cooperation and coordination, and the necessity of cost-effectively streamlining information flow up and down jurisdictional channels.

GIS Applications/Geospatial Technologies - Helping to deliver a common operating picture to planners, operators, and decision-makers in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, and Defense, IEM provides a broad spectrum of GIS application services, including custom mapping, geospatial data development and automation, data integration, data quality assurance and quality control, GPS field data analysis, and custom software development using Open Source technology.

Learning Management Systems - IEM has helped government and private sector clients develop, administer, track, and report on web-based educational and training programs.  By tapping the power of the World Wide Web, our Learning Management Systems—including online self-paced training and individual assessments—have expanded educational program offerings and broadened student reach, while making programs more cost-effective.

QA/IV&V - IEM’s independent verification and validation (IV&V) services are enhanced by our deep understanding of software principles and best practices, including information assurance and security management, and standards compliance work. Our QA/IV&V services have been used by government and military agencies and organizations requiring very high levels of accuracy in the estimation, design, construction, execution, and management of their projects.

Information Assurance - Honed by two decades of risk-management experience, IEM’s approach to information assurance is a seamless merger of disaster recovery planning, critical infrastructure protection, and emergency management. Our information integrity solutions look at the probability of a threat, the impact of its consequences, and the costs—both monetary and otherwise—to eliminate or reduce the threat.

Knowledge Management - IEM helps agencies define the risks associated with maximizing enterprise service access and minimizing security risks, so that the most workable balance can be struck. IEM clients are tasked with working 24/7 to collect and provide information and services to constituent customers—even if only in a virtual environment. Accessing data and using it across the enterprise is beneficial, not only to our efficiency-minded customers, but to our service-providing agencies as well.

Website and Portal Development - In addition to web portal and intranet development, application development, training, and maintenance, IEM also provides website design services including graphic design. IEM has led development of large-scale, mission-critical enterprise applications and portals for use by state and federal agencies. These include software for federal grant management, emergency response decision support systems that incorporate sophisticated hazard modeling capabilities and communications protocols, and collaboration portal sites that knit together communities of state, local, and federal users for national programs.
