BATON ROUGE, LA, August 3, 2010 – IEM, a global provider of security, safety, strategic performance, and sustainability solutions for government and business, is pleased to announce that it has been appraised as fully compliant at Maturity Level 3 with the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI®-DEV) version 1.2. IEM was also fully compliant with the optional Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) component. Only 8% of defense and federal IT contractors hold a Level 3 Maturity rating.

The Maturity Level 3 rating confirms that IEM has well-defined, effective, and repeatable processes for project management, software engineering, systems integration, and quality assurance, and maintains a focus on continuous process improvement. The IPPD component confirms that IEM effectively applies integrated team structures for successful collaboration during product development.

Ted Lemcke, IEM’s Vice President for Engineering and Technology, said, “IEM has been providing technology solutions to government and industry for the last 20 years. Achieving this certification confirms our commitment to excellence in the technology arena and we are proud to be part of the elite group that has achieved Level 3.”

IEM’s compliance with the process areas identified in CMMI Level 3 was appraised using the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement, Class A (SCAMPI A). This approach includes an objective examination of data and processes along with interviews of program leaders and technical personnel to demonstrate that effective processes are established and being followed.

IEM announced last December that it is relocating its Headquarters from Louisiana to the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. IEM is on schedule to complete the transition by the end of September.
