RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, January 24, 2011 – Major General Richard Rowe (U.S. Army Retired) has joined global risk management firm IEM as Vice President of Federal and Regional Response Operations. Based in IEM’s Washington, DC office, Rowe will lead IEM’s efforts in catastrophic response and recovery planning at the federal and regional levels.
During his 37-year military career, Rowe has held senior leadership positions for the US Forces, Joint Force Headquarters–National Capital Region, US Northern Command (NORTHCOM), US Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the 82d Airborne Division.
As NORTHCOM Director of Operations, Rowe coordinated Department of Defense (DoD) response preparations for all major national disasters from 2004–2006, including Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma. He served as Joint Commander for Homeland Security for the Military District of Washington, overseeing DoD support for national security events, two State of the Union addresses, President Obama’s Inauguration, Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Washington, the G-20 Conference, and the opening of the Nationals ballpark. For Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was the US Forces Director of the Iraq Training and Advisory Team, mentoring the Minister of Interior, synchronizing the equipping, training, and professionalization of the 550,000 Iraqi police, and developing emergency/contingency planning for evolving threat scenarios.

IEM relocated its headquarters to the Research Triangle Park in 2010.
