RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, September 23, 2011 – Global consulting firm IEM announced today that it has named Wayne C. Thomas Vice President of International Homeland Security and Disaster Management. Thomas previously held the title of Vice President, Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His new title reflects IEM’s growing international presence in the security and disaster management markets.
Madhu Beriwal, IEM President and CEO, addressed the change in title, saying “This highlights Wayne’s role in IEM’s international efforts and the impact he has had on improving security domestically and abroad. I am pleased that he has accepted this mission, especially given the renewed global focus on security at the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and recent international events such as the mass killings in Norway and the Arab Spring.”
Thomas has been with IEM since 2002. Throughout his career, he has increased public protection for some of the most dangerous technological, terrorist-driven, and natural hazards faced by our nation. He is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and the National Emergency Management Association's private sector committee. He holds a Master’s degree from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and a Bachelor’s degree from the University College of Wales.
